James Whitaker is a freelance solicitor, providing non-reserved legal services. James does not conduct reserved legal activities (as set out in Section 12 of the Legal Services Act 2007).
James is qualified and authorised to practice in England and Wales, and in California. He is regulated, in his personal capacity, by the UK Solicitors Regulation Authoriy (“SRA“) (SRA identification number 8004906) and the State Bar of California (licence number 326504).
James adheres to the professional and ethical standards applicable to solicitors, as set out in the SRA Principles and Code of Conduct for Solicitors, about which further information can be found on the SRA’s website: www.sra.org.uk.
James is not subject to the SRA’s (or any other) compulsory professional indemnity insurance requirements. Nonetheless, he maintains professional indemnity insurance (which is not, and does not need to be, based upon or compliant with the SRA-approved Minimum Terms and Conditions for solicitors), about which further information can be provided upon request.
James is not authorised to, and does not, handle client money.
James is registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (registration reference ZB698776).
Complaints regarding James Whitaker’s services should be addressed, in the first instance, to info@whitakerlaw.co.uk. Complaints will be handled in accordance with James’ complaints policy. If a satisfactory outcome is not achieved, complainants will have the right to submit the complaint to SRA if you believe James has, or may have, breached the SRA’s principles, and/or pursue redress in the courts of England and Wales. Complainants may also be able to complain to the Legal Ombudsman.
